Appropriate Use of Electronic Resources

Access to digital products including electronic journals and databases is governed by license agreements. According to license agreements between Suna Kıraç Library, ANKOS, EKUAL and the relevant publishers, electronic resources can only be used for the purpose of private study and research. These agreements also stipulate that remote access to licensed electronic resources is limited to students, faculty, and staff of Koç University.

Prohibited actions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Sharing electronically or in print any files or data obtained from the Library’s electronic resources with anyone who is not a member of Koç University
  • Posting materials obtained from the Library’s electronic resources such that they are publicly accessible, i.e. on websites, blogs, or in any other publicly accessible online environment;
  • Commercial use of electronic resources, eg. selling content to a person or organization who otherwise does not have access to this content;
  • Systematic downloading of materials available via the Library’s electronic resources.

Engaging in the above activities jeopardizes the entire Koç University community’s continued access to and use of licensed electronic resources. Web activity may be monitored by vendors and publishers and violation of the licensing agreement could result in cancellation of service.

If you have any questions about appropriate use of licensed resources, please get in touch with a librarian. You can speak to a librarian in person at the Information Desk, or we can be reached at liberesources@ku.edu.tr.
