The Journey of Higher Education in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic
About the Theme:
Koç University Libraries (Suna Kıraç Library and branch libraries AKMED, ANAMED and VEKAM) continued their project with the theme of Treasury Gallery 8: “The Journey of Higher Education in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic” which was initiated to increase the visibility of their collections to address informative and interesting topics and to present them online to researchers.
Within this project’s scope, the journey of higher education from the declaration of the Republic to the present day was examined by a team of 4 people. In this context, relevant social media posts, blog posts, and libguide were prepared, and a conference and WikiMarathon event were organized. The development of higher education and librarianship from the Republic to the present is included in the libguide in historical detail.

The Journey of Higher Education in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic – Book Exhibition (22 March 2023) – (The post language is Turkish)
The exhibition “Illuminating the Future: Reconstruction of Higher Education in the Early Years of the Republic, 1923–1946” focuses on the higher education institutions that were reorganized in the first years of the Republic, were established at that time, and continue their existence in Ankara today, and are of critical importance in shaping the future of higher education in Turkey.

“Librarianship from the Republic to the Present” Conference (23 March 2023) – (The post language is Turkish)
Within the scope of Suna Kıraç Library and Branch Libraries 8th Treasury series and 59th Library Week, the “Librarianship from the Republic to the Present” event will be held on Wednesday, March 29th. The event will start with a tour of the “Illuminating the Future: Reconstruction of Higher Education in the Early Years of the Republic, 1923–1946” exhibition, specially prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, and will be followed by Prof. Dr. Hasan Sacit Keseroğlu’s speech will continue, where he will discuss the development of librarianship from the Republic to the present.

WikiMarathon “Republican Era Librarianship Education” Event (26 April 2023) – (The post language is Turkish)
We are waiting for Information and Records Management students living in Istanbul to attend our event, where we will enter content into Wikipedia regarding librarianship education and the first librarians in the Republican Era. Our event will be held at Koç University Suna Kıraç Library, and the quota is limited to 15 people.
