ANAMED Library Talk

ANAMED Library Talks continued May 2 with Levent Cantek and Mustafa Ergül. Humor magazines have been the best-selling publications of the country in almost every period, their easy to understand, funny, striking visuals, impressive fantasies and erotic styles can be shown as the main factors for this.

Politically they have to appeal to majority values, otherwise they cannot be sold and they become a marginal publication, or they are censored, banned and blocked. Their nationalist, secular and modernist stances, religious criticism, and opposition to communism, anti-semitic and racist aggression, and male-dominated languages are important features.

Humor magazines are a fertile source in terms of showing what we loved, laughed at, and who-how we made enemies throughout the history of the republic. The event held online and was in Turkish. Mustafa Ergül was the moderator of the event.
