Koç University Research Data Repository (KU-RDR)

Koç University Research Data Repository (KU-RDR) has been launched as a part of the research data management services by the Library. As of now, all researchers at the Koç University have access to search in the Research Data Repository. KU-RDR will accept datasets in various file formats that are produced from all types of research projects carried out within the university. It is aimed to open the university’s research data outputs to other researchers through a reliable institutional archive infrastructure established to operate within the framework of FAIR data principles.

As Koç University researchers, you can use this service to meet the open access expectations coming from funders and contribute to increase the visibility of your research. You will find the repository on the Digital Collections’ website, with a collection guide that is explaining how you can deposit your research data in it. For your related questions, please contact the responsible Librarian via openaccess@ku.edu.tr mail adddress.

Juliopolis Necropolis Collection

The collection was created in 2020 as an output of the "Bioarchaeological Study of the Human Skeletal Remains of the Ancient City of Juliopolis". Hacettepe University and Anatolian Civilizations Museum are in the project, in which VEKAM is a stakeholder. The collection includes images of these tombs, artefacts from the tombs, and information about the remains of the people found in the tombs. You may now access the Juliopolis Necropolis Collection from the digital collections page.

Koç University’s Law School students met with Wikipedia!

Wikipedia is the most comprehensive open-access online encyclopedia, created, edited, and verified by volunteers worldwide. Wikimedia Community User Group Turkey (WMTR) are a group of Wikipedia contributors based in Turkey. Since 2015, Wikipedia contributors strive to foster a more open culture, supporting volunteers to produce high-quality Wikipedia articles referencing reliable sources, utilizing a non-sexist language, and providing unbiased information. To this end, they organize workshop on universities where they guide students and instructors in editing wiki projects. By doing so, they encourage students to make contributions on topics that are covered by or related to their courses.

In May, Wikipedia contributors met Koç University’s Law School students currently enrolled in LAW 326-European Union Law course. The workshop was held in Suna Kıraç Library and started with a brief introductory training by Wikipedia contributors, who talked about the importance of developing Wikipedia content, especially in Turkish. They consequently assisted students in editing Wikipedia articles by using their knowledge acquired in LAW 326. As Suna Kıraç Library, we are delighted to have celebrated European Union Day with Koç University’s Law School students and Wikipedia contributors. Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to Assistant Professor Zeynep Ayata for her tremendous contribution and support. We will also organize new Wikipedia workshops next semester. Stay tuned!
