Looking for something new? Check the “New Arrivals” feature

We've developed New Arrivals Tool so that you can see the new materials the Library just received.

The “New Arrivals” feature speaks instantly with the library automation system. Therefore, it is constantly updated, and it shows the latest items that Koç University Suna Kıraç Library & its branch libraries have added to their collections.

Advanced search filters have been added to the New Arrivals for you. Use filters to browse new books, DVDs, e-books, journals and others. You can see the materials received in the last day, last five days or last ten days. Also, you can use “Advanced Search” option to narrow down or limit your search. When you see the search results list, click the titles to see more information about each title: books, DVDs and more.

Koç University Suna Kıraç Library Special Collections & Archives Area

In August 2018, Koç University Suna Kıraç Library finalized a project that involves a larger archival repository area to preserve its growing special collections that have been accumulated since the day of its foundation. The archive collections and selected Rare Books are relocated to their new home in the basement of Suna Kıraç Library.

Appropriate physical conditions for the security and long-term management of archival collections have a great importance according to the international standards. The new repository area for the archive is important not only because it hosts Koç University’s invaluable collections, but also because these precious items should be stewarded properly according to disaster management and intervention solutions that have developed by giving a special importance to cultural heritage collections.

Along with the Repository section, Suna Kıraç Library Special Collections & Archives area will also provide a reading room area for archive visitors as well as digitization lab with its relocated equipment.

New TV Screens featured with a wireless screenshare function for the Study Rooms

Sometimes you want to work on a project or give a presentation or moderate a meeting in a group study room, but you will need an HDMI or VGA cable, how about you have a VGA cable but the device you are going to connect to has an HDMI port, already bored isn’t it!

Don’t worry! There are 5 group study rooms equipped with new Smart TVs featured with wireless screenshare function. In these rooms you don’t need adapters, or anything plugged into your computer, just a Wi-Fi connection to share your screen, and a device with Android or Windows operating system.

You can book a room using the online booking system and don’t forget to ask at the Reserve Desk for the remote controllers. Also, you can always ask for help from a Librarian nearby.

Web of Science Master Journal List

The Web of Science Group launched the enhanced Master Journal List, with new, improved functionality and a better user experience. The online list is the go-to place for researchers to explore which journals are included in the Web of Science, and to help them identify suitable publishing destinations for their research.

The improvements include:

• New Journal Profile Pages
• Improved search
• Integrated Manuscript Matcher tool

Cogitatio Press: OpenAccess to scientific knowledge

In case you forgot, this is a reminder that the Library is an institutional member of Cogitatio and therefore it covers the article processing charges (APC) of all articles authored by corresponding authors of Koç University. This agreement is valid as of 31st December 2019. The journal titles are being indexed in Web of Science, Scopus and other citation databases.

Safety in the Library: Protect yourself and the others

The recent earthquake was a reminder of how important it is for everyone to follow safety rules to protect themselves and keep the premises safe for the others. Make sure you can identify all emergency exits in the Library – they are in every floor, on both sides. In case of evacuation emergency, please follow the instructions given by the Library staff and try to exit the building as indicated.

Fire extinguishers as well as fire detectors are part of the safety measures of the building, as precautions taken to improve our safety.

Remember that we can open the windows that include a frame but opening the frame is strictly prohibited. You can ask for the window keys from the Library staff.

Last, in case you are inside an elevator during an electricity cut, please do use the alarm button to make the situation known. In case of fire or earthquake, do not use the elevators!

ÜNAK (Association of University and Research Librarians) Symposium

A few weeks ago, 3 of our colleagues participated in the annual ÜNAK Symposium which was hosted by TED University Ayşe Ilıcak Library in Ankara under the theme “Future of Our Libraries: Collaboration”.

In this context, Ebru Çınar, Serhat Uran, İrem Ünal and Naz Baydar prepared a joint article for the symposium and participated with presentations: Ebru and İrem on the first day and Serhat on the second day.

The UNAK Symposium, which took place in a highly professional and productive atmosphere, was very useful in terms of following the work of other university libraries

The 2019 Booker Prize

This year, the Booker Prize for Fiction was awarded to two authors: Margaret Atwood for The Testaments and Bernardine Evaristo for Girl, Woman, Other.

The books will soon be included in our Literature collection. Come borrow them and enjoy some high-quality fiction writing! And don’t forget, our Literature collection includes both Turkish and International titles, in several languages. You can find it on the 1^st floor.
