Turkish Libraries celebrate every March!

They celebrate the profession of Library and Information science, the developments and advancements in the field, the good practices and implementations of high quality services and tools in Libraries and many more. This month’s newsletter is devoted to the 55th Turkish National Library week, during the last week of March. Celebrations across the country were numerous and Koç University Libraries had their share.

ORCID

ORCID Profile

The beginning of March marked the second phase of our campaign to raise awareness about ORCID as we scheduled daily help sessions at the Faculties.

Researchers need to make themselves visible among other researchers and highlight their work. ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), provides unique persistent identifiers for the benefit of both individual researchers and their institutions.

The idea behind ORCID identifiers is that they should be a stable link between all your personal data that might change, research activities - grant applications, manuscript submissions, publications, entries in institutional repositories and your peer review activity. Registration takes just 30 seconds and you get to decide what information you associate with it, who can see this information and which other organizations can add information on your behalf. This means you can keep adding to it throughout your research career.

You can find more in the following LibGuide. If you would like to create a profile, we can schedule individual meetings for you. Send us your request at askalibrarian@ku.edu.tr

Student ambassador

Student Ambassadors Program

The Student Ambassadors Program was launched in 2016 and this year we accepted applications again, during the 3rd recruitment. Student Ambassadors are like a bridge between the campus community and the Library as they provide us, the librarians, a new perspective in our services and help us promote them along with our events and campaigns.

This is a valuable experience for students interested in developing several skills while participating in SKL’s various activities.

We are always pleased to receive new members in the team, so in case you are interested in joining the Student Ambassadors Program please do not hesitate to contact us: ebcinar@ku.edu.tr
